In the screenshot the inserter going into the belt curve cannot change the output lane. When I press the h key to flip it, it makes the sound but does not flip.
I would expect for a perpendicular placement that the lane cannot be changed, but in this case, for the far side of the belt, it's facing away from the inserter, so with the new placement options, I'd expect the ability to choose the lane.
I made this little diagram to explain my logic. Belts have lanes A and B. Short (S) and Long (L) are adjacent to the belt line.

I swear I searched for this before posting! My search skills must suck! Sorry for the dup. I 2nd the feature/change request then. Having this as the option would save a lot of headaches.
