However, you overlooked one point: "discarding" means that you don't care about it and can't control where it goes, and the same applies to the ground.

The exact opposite is the case: on the ground if anything discards any items bots will deliver them to open requests from blue chests, then green, then yellow chest with selection, then unmarked yellow chests. And in that order, always.

It wouldn't. It would receive trash of each item type unless it specified a maximum amount request for that type.
However that'd happen only if there is no station having open requests, like a buffer or hub which would get preferred.

It wouldn't. Requests should be specified by the already existing mechanics, which includes the circuit network.

To clarify, by "fulfilling requests" I mean the existing (min) request threshold; not the (max) auto trash threshold; possibly limited to those requests that allow platforms as source.

Yes, it has its own logic, which is beyond your control.

Without changing the existing situation (one rocket has only one destination), even a second junk inventory cannot handle this problem because items from different platforms cannot be mixed.

The issue here is that only discarding is a self-initiated shipping action; all other logistics are "requests." The original shipping logic simply moves it to the junk inventory, but you want to rewrite the entire shipping logic.

You must first determine who can receive it, then determine the quantity that can be received, and then drop the items in batches. Instead of doing this, it would be better for the requesting party to send requests; at least, thinking about this part almost got me completely confused.
