Multiple Custom Alert Icons Displayed

Post by Benny1486 »

TL;DR
Extend alert icons to display multiple custom alerts icons rather than only one icon displayed for all.

What?
Currently when using custom alerts, if multiple alerts are signaling, they all appear under the one icon for one for all alerts.

WHAT do you suggest? What is your idea that should be changed? Explain in detail your idea.
My suggestion/ask for consideration is to allow multiple custom icons to be displayed across the tool bar (no longer than the current toolbar, and if more than are triggered allow a final icon/button to display the additional alerts) so they can be seen at a glance, similar to how when damage or enemy base expansion displays multiple icons (see images). Or alternatively, provide an option or toggle to enable or disable that capability. I believe they should be displayed in chronological order they appear, but there may be other considerations I am not thinking of off the top of my mind.
Why?
WHY do you think it increases the value of Factorio as a game?
Sometimes we when a base is being attacked, or multiple things are running, we need to closely monitor fluid outputs, we need to make a quick decision and I use the alerts and their icons to understand what is happening. However, if more than one alert is happening I need to click on the only icon being displayed if the alert is for a specific reason that needs immediate attention or if it's just an "awareness" alert. Allowing the multiple icons to been seen at a quick glance can help support the user make quicker decisions.
