What did you do?
Upgraded artillery range to 20 (potentially).
What happened?
Expansion candidate chunks disappeared on Gleba, limited to half the map on Nauvis. Even after exploring a bit with a spidertron on Gleba, as soon as artillery takes out the new nests, the candidate chunk indicators disappear.
What did you expect to happen instead?
Expansion candidates to remain around the edge of the explored map.
Does it happen always, once, or sometimes?
Sometimes?
So I'm not sure if this is related to this bug, or if it's just chance or what. But expansion has completely ceased on Gleba and is limited on Nauvis. I tried to fix it by exploring new chunks on Gleba, and when I explored new areas I got new expansion candidate chunks, but then the artillery started firing and as soon as the nests were cleared there were no candidate chunks again. I have 20 artillery range upgrades and potentially that's what's causing it, but it doesn't seem right. The nests I newly discovered with the spidertron were within automatic artillery range because they fired immediately, and they should have been within legendary radar range because the artillery has fired farther before automatically. On both Nauvis and Gleba, the artillery has cleared further than I've ever explored with my character/spidertron/etc.
I tried to upload the save but it gives me an "HTTP error." when I do, it's 129 MiB which is well under the 1 GiB limit. I can try to upload it somewhere else if it would be useful.

Re: [2.1.14] Expansion limited/non-existant, potentially due to artillery range
Congratulations, I think you have just reached the limit of the game design,
Since you basically kill all the spawners in every chunk, there isn't much we can do except generate more chunks, which is possible but will just eat more RAM and CPU time...

Fair enough, performance is obviously a concern. I fixed it for myself by console commanding my artillery range upgrades back down to 10 and then exploring a bit.
