This looks terrifyingly huge.

Thanks for the report. This is working correctly. Having them pass in front of the planet looked far worse.

Could you make them shrink away and become teeny tiny like they're orbiting behind it, or fade away when they approach the planet? The current appearance makes the background asteroids look enormous or the planet look tiny.

I understand darker background asteroids might look odd passing over a planet, but having a "habitable" planet sitting in front of a dense field of colossal asteroids breaks visual immersion even more.

The main issue here is parallax and scaling when moving or zooming the camera:

Parallax breaks the sense of scale: Because background asteroids shift rapidly with camera movement while the planet barely moves, the planet ends up looking tiny, almost the same size as the platform itself. (Stars, being infinitely far away, shouldn't shift with camera panning at all).

Zoom scaling feels inconsistent: Zooming in turns background asteroids into massive "planet killers" relative to the horizon curve, purely due to how background elements rescale:

My Suggestions:

Reduce Orbit Density: Asteroid density should drop drastically in orbit compared to transit zones. (even fewer than harvestable asteroids)

Fix Background Asteroid Behavior: If background asteroids must render behind the planet, they should not scale when zooming and should have zero camera parallax.

Anchor Planet & Stars: The planet should take up a large portion of the screen (the size at max zoom looks fine) and remain fixed against camera movement, along with the stars. Background movement should only happen during space travel, not during camera pan/zoom.
