[2.1.12] "Paste entity settings" doesn't work when "Visualize entity fluid pipelines" set to same keybind

Bugs that are actually features.

[2.1.12] "Paste entity settings" doesn't work when "Visualize entity fluid pipelines" set to same keybind

Post by Mar_Veloz »

I have "Visualize entity fluid pipelines" bound to shift + right-click. I have "Paste entity settings" bound to the same key combo as well (which is the default for that control).

When I try to copy & paste settings to an oil refinery or chemical plant, nothing happens. I checked the settings copy & paste control for every other type of machine (assembling machine 1/2/3, centrifuge, foundry, electromagnetic plant, biochamber, cryogenic plant) and it works for all of those. The bug only occurs for oil refineries and chemical plants specifically. It happens every time.

I would expect the settings copy & paste to work for oil refineries and chemical plants, just like it works for every other machine.

Repro steps:
  1. Set the "Visualize entity fluid pipelines" control to shift + left-click. Leave all other settings as their default.
  2. Build two chemical plants, and set a recipe for only one of them.
  3. Attempt to copy & paste the recipe to the other chemical plant, and observe that nothing happens.
  4. Repeat steps above for the oil refinery building type.

Thanks for the report however this is simply how key-bindings work. Since you've bound them to the same thing they conflict and the first one that runs takes priority and blocks the later ones from running. You simply can't do that if you want to use both actions.

The bug is that they conflict. Since "Visualize entity fluid pipelines" only functions when clicking on a pipeline, there's no reason why they should conflict when clicking on a crafting machine.

Also, there's the fact that it works fine for every machine type other than those two. So again, it doesn't seem like there's any intrinsic reason why the two controls should conflict.

Those crafting machines have fluidboxes which can be visualized.

Could you explain what you mean by this? Even with "visualize entity fluid pipelines" set to a non-conflicting keybind, using that hotkey on a chemical plant or oil refinery does nothing.

Also, do the cryo plant, foundry, biochamber, etc not also have fluidboxes?

EDIT: Figured it out. When the other crafting machine types have a recipe set that uses fluids, the copy/paste does also stop working. So I guess the fluidboxes are only active for those machines when a recipe that uses fluids is set, but the difference is that the oil refinery and chemical plant always have fluidboxes even with no recipe since every recipe they have works with fluids.
