Steam Family Sharing has big problems with Factorio Mods. Please improve the situation on your end.
Despite family sharing, only one Steam account is considered to "own" the game, so family members are unable to properly log into the mod portal. Kids are unable to get mods, and unable to update mods. Manually retrieving mods is painful with dependencies.
Please improve the mod account situation so families can play this game.

You can download the game directly from Factorio.com (after connecting your Steam account to verify the Purchase), and play that "Offline" with family members. Yes, it is difficult to share Mod files manually: if they like the game, then they would need to purchase their own copy to take advantage of the Mod Portal. This is a form of Advertising, and I am glad that there is no DRM on the game.
Good Luck!

I'm talking about single player mode.
Re: Steam Family Sharing
Unfortunately due to technical limitation, we are not able to support full membership privilages, ergo we only had 2 choices:
Furthermore, family sharing is not the same as buying the game and supporting the development,
The membership features are one of the only incentives for make a full purchase, and they are services which require active upkeep, maintenance and server hosting costs.
- Allow family sharing without full account membership. You can play the game and DLCs, but not access the mod portal or authenticated multiplayer (you can still play LAN together).
- Disallow family sharing completely.
