[2.1.12] character death upon exiting editor mode

i loaded my game (after not playing since before 2.1 dropped) and i am in editor mode (no character on screen).

when i exit editor mode (with my key bind F11), i immediately get the player defeated (death) dialogue.

when i respawn, my corpse is there but has no inventory on it.

if i go back in to editor mode, my god non-character still has the mech armor but my character doesn't.
i tried turning off "trash unrequested" before dying, but i can't access it in editor mode. i'm pretty sure the mech armor isn't getting stolen by bots because i still have the bullets.
it did the same on other surfaces i tested. i did have a character and was playing on cheat mode.
it is always reproducible with that save.

-"SpaceAge02c-test.zip" is the one where i die right away. the last time i opened this file before today was when the concrete recycling recipe was changed. i wanted to check the huge trash jam .
-"SpaceAge02c-test2-gleba-fg.zip" is the last working version of it from jan/2025 and i didn't die coming out of editor mode.

Thanks for the report however this is all working correctly. You've removed the mech armor from your character while it's flying and as a result when you leave the map editor the character falls to its death.

how is the armor getting removed though?

i tried on my other save, and yes if i go into editor mode while flying (over a building), then remove armor and exit editor, he does fall. but i never removed the armor, the first screencap shows it's still on. and im always over a clear space when exiting. i understand the fall part, but I've been going in and out of editor mode exactly like this for 282 hours. I've never removed my armor, and there's no hotkey for me to accidentally press.

i guess i can just give myself another armor and continue on, but i still don't get why.

The first screen cap does not have the armor equipped on the character. You have it equipped on the map editor. The character is the GUI on the right which shows no armor equipped.
