TL;DR
Allow reversing offshore pumps so that they can dump unwanted fluids. What?
I just watched a video showing an easy exploit to get rid of unwanted fluids — molten copper in this particular example.That... shouldn't be necessary, in my opinion. Just allow offshore pumps to be reversible, and any unwanted fluids can easily be dealt with.
Why?
Excess fluids can always be a problem, and the easiest solution would be to use existing mechanics to add a single new option for the offshore pumps that already exist....and — of course — dumping things like oil into lakes should first degrade their ability to absorb pollution and then eventually cause them to PRODUCE it. ...with no way of reversing the process, because why should there be?
