Make pollution cloud on map less bright on Nauvis

Post by jonathanpaulson »

The pollution cloud on the map is very useful to see what biter bases are "active". However I keep it off by default because it is so bright over the main base that it is hard to see anything else. It would be good to make that less overwhelming, particularly since that isn't even where the useful information is.

This is pretty minor obviously - just toggling it on when I want to see the biter information works. But all the other map toggles are unobtrusive enough that I don't mind just leaving them on permanently, and it would be nice if this one was too.

The whole point of the brightness is to show the intensity of the polution in a particular area. I think the way it is currently is hard to improve on unless you have a very good idea how to do that of course.

you could think of dots "bigger and bigger" from X to XX pixels with the same opacity and brightness level as "very low pollution" on a grid to create a "texture" that convey visually where the pollution is denser, each chunk would have the same amount of dots placed the same, trending toward and overlap at max pollution , not sure if it's a good idea but it's one :)
