What?
Pins aren't intuitive to discover, and it would be nice if their existence was more visible since they are a really nice addition. It would also help show the hotkey for adding pins, like the hotkey for "Add tag" and "Add ping" when hovering over them.

Why?
Some people didn't know about pins. And even when I knew about them in the FFF, I couldn't figure out the hotkey for it because there wasn't a button for it for me to hover my mouse over to see it, unlike the map tag and map ping functions.

I’d like to have this. I had trouble discovering there was any way to create custom pins.

Also, there could be a pin button in the “Tag properties” dialog, so you can add a pin for a tag without the key combination.

Also, something in “Tips and tricks” for tags, introducing the idea that the control for it exists and it isn’t just something you can use from the alerts and map search.

Shortcut keys for selecting pins would be very useful too. Navigating around remote view is a bit cumbersome.

Does anyone know if there is an API for adding pins with a mod? Or, how one would go about doing that? I have spent some time in the documentation, but I can't seem to find anything. I saw a post that said they're working on modifying the map pins/chart tags API in 2.1, so perhaps I just have to wait until then.

Every time I want to add a pin I forgot what button to press. Even after pressing buttons I would expect does nothing, so I give up. O don't know how to create a pin now even.

A button by the minimap would be amazing, and exactly where expected

Counterpoint: For those of us who do already know how to use pins, this new button takes up space where I'd prefer to see more of the screen instead.

I'd be more amenable to it if it only showed up until I added my first pin, and then disappeared forever.

Of course, if someone only uses this button to add a pin (instead of the keyboard shortcut), that causes an issue.

Is there a tutorial about adding pins? Maybe that would solve the problem without needing an extra button to cover part of the screen.
