[2.1.9] Space logistics inconsistency

Post by worph »

Preamble: This may be a bit cheeky, I strongly believe it to be an actual bug that needs addressing, but one could argue it's more of a feature request.

Core Problem:
Space platform logistics in the newest versions don't work consistently.

Example setup #1:
Station1: Collects asteroids, makes iron ore, iron plates and steel.
Station2: Collects asteroids, makes iron ore, has thrusters.

Logistics:
Station1: Request excess iron ore from other stations (i.e. station two).
Station2: Request iron ore, carbon, ice, ammo up to a threshold.

In the current version this setup does not work.
If both stations request the same item, they can never exchange items it seems, even if one is above it's request threshold.
If the threshold for one item is capped to a max value, it will not be delivered to the other station that has a request for that item, but will instead be dropped to the planet.

Example setup #2 (almost identical):
Station1: Collects asteroids, makes iron ore, iron plates and steel.
Station2: Collects asteroids, makes iron ore, has thrusters.

Logistics:
Station1: Request excess iron ore from other stations (i.e. station two).
Station2: Request iron ore, carbon, ice, ammo up to a threshold.

In this second example, I cannot set a minium amount threshold for station2. Station1 will pull every last bit of iron ore, no exception.
Setting a request as a makeshift threshold also does not work, as described above.

Basically there is no way to:
A: Limit how much of an item is being pulled by another station.
B: Exchange excess items between stations.

I don't think, this is a very weird or exceptional edgecase of the new system. But it may work as intended.
In my opinion there should be some way to moderate those requests by giving each request a priority, or another checkbox that allows this behaviour, etc.

Additionally: The "Unload" checkbox, next to a station also limits the exchange between stations, not just unloading toward the planet.

If this is the wrong place, I'm truly sorry and this can be closed or moved.

Thanks for the report. This seems like a duplicate of 134700.
