[2.1.8] Map Generator Presets Don't Affect Non-Nauvis Planets

Post by Mournfall »

Probably more of an oversight than an exact bug, technically (unless this used to work and doesn't now).
What did you do?
Started to create a new Single Player Freeplay (Space Age) world, and selected the "Rail world" Map Generator preset option. I then also selected the "Rich resources", "Ribbon world", "Death world" and "Death world marathon" options to see if they had the same issue.
What happened?
In all five presets, only Nauvis' settings are modified for the Resources, Terrain, and Enemy tabs:
(Not sure if there's a way to make the images be next to each other rather than in a giant column, please tell me if there is a way)
"Rail world" preset, Resource tab, only Nauvis' resource settings are changed from their defaults (Frequency and Size).

What did you expect to happen instead? It might be obvious to you, but do it anyway!
I expected the other official planets to have their settings modified to match similar changes to Nauvis, such as:
  • Resource settings for resource patches for non-Nauvis resources (Frequency and Size on Rail World, all three settings on Ribbon World, and Richness on Rich Resources)
  • Terrain settings (Vulcanus Volcanism and Gleba Water and possibly Fulgora Islands to match Nauvis Water on Rail World and Ribbon World, and Gleba Cliffs and Fulgora Cliffs on Ribbon World as well)
  • Enemy Settings (Frequency and Size of Gleba Enemy Bases to match Nauvis Enemy Bases on both Death World presets).
Does it happen always, once, or sometimes?
Always. Any time you select one of the specific presets, only global Nauvis' planet-specific settings are adjusted to suit the preset. All other planet-specific settings are set to their defaults (if they were modified by the player before a preset was selected).

Obviously a player can just adjust the settings manually to match it but it's unfortunate that it doesn't work as you'd normally expect, automatically.

I swear I tried to search for bugs mentioning these but it didn't come up with any. Thanks for finding that for me.

Looks like they don't intend to fix it, but maybe they'll change their mind as part of the 2.1 stuff, as it seems to be focused around polishing things after 2.0 + Space Age
