[2.1.7] Oil refineries having one output instead of three?

Post by emolon »

Oil refinery recipes that only have one output now only have one output instead of three ? Is this a bug? I looked through the patch notes and couldn't find anything about this. I mean it makes sense but this breaks a lot of factories.
I can still flip the outputs but some of my refineries use the middle output. For example see the attached below, heavy oil now leads nowhere and starved a part of the factory from petroleum gas.

Redoing and fixing all the pipe work is easy but time consuming

I don't know but now that matches the basic oil processing recipe where only one of the outputs is in use. In the oil processing recipe it's to make it possible to change the recipe later to the advanced oil processing. Maybe the same here?

That is a good guess, just checked to make sure, it does match the heavy oil outputs for all recipes. Still, if it is the case, maybe have a hotkey to cycle between the three outputs so that i dont have to redo all my pipework everywhere on my 320 hours space age quality run lol. And I dont think I will be the only one to have this issue, unless everyone except me always connects the three outputs together.

I guess this could be good for new players, but this is very confusing for me haha. Hotkey thing could be useful tho

Now they could make it so one input is for sulfuric acid, like in original oil processing

2.1.7 Changelog includes:
Changes
  • Added fluidbox_index to simple coal liquefaction in the same way basic oil processing has.
This appears to be an intentional change to bring parity with the other Oil Processing recipes.

Good Luck!

So this was what I missed from the patch notes, thanks. I don't think it is a bad change but for existing save files, especially in my example where I used the middle output which cannot be flipped. There could be a way to fix this; like a hotkey to cycle outputs when less than two, which I guess would be the easiest to implement. Or maybe for migrated saves, connect IF there is only one output (out of the old three) to the only pipe connected, but I guess this is more difficult to implement for the devs.
It's not a big deal but people that did weird designs like I did will be confused

So not a bug just can't read. Have a good night/day everyone. Still very hyped for 2.1 anyway !!

Well they said they likely will do breaking changes in 2.1
I need to check builds too, I have some large builds which are able to handle a recipe change from simple to normal liquefication...
