One final landing pad suggestion

Post by waterBear »

With the FFF it sounds like new infinite research is off the table, but I may as well get the idea out there.

We all want throughput through the landing pad without using bots. Most ideas are basically 1) "let me pull from cargo bays" which is obviously a non-starter since then you can train bays across the map and have infinite throughput "belts" or 2) "let me have more than one landing pad" which is out because you shouldn't be able to launch up and immediately send down to avoid on-planet logistics.

The idea: Introduce an infinite research that unlocks an additional landing pad (per surface or just for Nauvis, whatever) that can only be attached to an existing landing pad. Without rambling on, I think this basically solves everybody's problems.

Players get more surface area and the core game mechanics remain intact, as long as you make the research expensive enough. I was thinking 1-10M to unlock the first one (or even more) and then double the cost each level. This lets players who achieve the highest levels of SPM continue to get more surface area while ensuring that no one ends up with 50 landing pads in a big chain on their planet.

That's it. My one and only suggestion.
