[2.0.73] misleading UI feedback / properties not transferred when using to Ctrl+C copy buidling properties

Post by sben »

Copy the buidling using [Ctrl + C] and drag over other entities to copy the settings.

In the attached video, the leftmost electromagnetic plant was clearly highlighted, but as seen, the module requests and other properties not transferred.

I find this behaviour highly misleading due to inconsistent UI feedback.
  • Compare to eg. grid aligned blueprints: The blue hightlighting means there that the settings were copied - without the need to drag over the center of the grid.
  • Also compare to [Ctrl + C] copying multiple entities: blue highlight means successful placement.
  • But when [Ctrl + C] copying only a single entity, even after having dragged over the middle tile of the buiding and also having the visual highlight triggered (that usually means that you have reached the right position), the setting were still not applied.
It can be hard to spot if the operation succeed, especially if only circuit settings were to get updated.
Production misconfiguration based on mistakenly assumed success is very hard and time consuming to debug later, provided if ever noticed.

Thanks for the report. I believe this is a duplicate of 129426 which is fixed for the next release.
If you want to get ahold of me I'm almost always on Discord.
