Best gleba science build block

Post by SaboteurKiev »

I have started with belts to exchange all items.
Then I tried to use chests as building-to-chest transferring is much faster, but chests are small and can't connect many building.
So I have switched to cargo vagon, where you can use filters, but it is also not comfortable
So in final blueprint I am using rocket silo:

What are best of this block:
1. Easy to start and easy to improvement - in early game just start with standard quality, then just replace buildings with higher quality without moving/rebuilding anything else on base up to Legendary, then just build another block in other place, and another one... very simple to scale.

2. We have just fruits, nuts, seeds and science pack on the belts - all of them have pretty large spoilage time - the rest of things will be transferred from building to building - it is fastest way ever. So your science pack will be as fresh as possible.

3. All you need - to produce science pack a bit faster then anything else, and you will never get eggs spoiled to pentapods. But you can put a few laser turrets on borders.

4. In my setup, when everything is legendary, you need approximately 4 agricultural towers of fruits and 2 of nuts per such block. Also I have some logic near the agriculture towers, that put fruits/nuts only when they are less then X on the belt. Manually set X to have a small line directly near build block, instead of fill the whole belt - it will increase freshness of science pack:

X depends on belt length, so it should be set manually for each setup:

5. On gleba you will receive pretty fresh science pack:

I have managed enough input/output hatches and rocket silos to get up to 94-95% in Nauvis biolab. I do not left anything on Gleba, so I process spoiled packs on Nauvis, so almost have no big spoil recycling on Gleba. only on Nauvis.

6. End-game (legendary) output of such block is approximately 7k/min of science pack.

Any comments are welcome.

Did you consider transporting Bioflux instead of Science packs to Navius? (if Navius is your science place).

For the science pack, bioflux is the only resource you need. It has the same rocket capacity. And the conversion ratio is

3 bioflux -> 2 science packs

and some small amount of nutrients to keep biochambers running. Considering biochambers with no modules (I am actually using efficacy modules within all biochambers). That is indeed some loss you can get from one rocket delivery but given these facts:

1. You probably do transfer bioflux anyway so it is just simplier logistic.
2. (more importantly) Bioflux has larger spoiling time than science pack.

It make all things easier.

PS: I am not entirely sure about everything. I am just back to factorio after some time  and I still need to test again some parts.

No, because gleba science packs can only be crafted on Gleba in vanilla space age.

Really? I am quite sure it was possible back in time with some patch. But I admit it might be some my confusion with some mod. Sorry for the mistake then.
