[2.0.76] Crash loading save "MilitaryTarget::checkNearbyForcesUnRegistration"

Post by arxass »

Hello.
Little background - i had problems with running games lately (plenty critical errors and bsod) and even watching netflix or yt, even running pc idle could cause bsod. I went out of patience three days ago when i could even start factorio, it was giving me plenty of CRC errors when loading mods at startup. I went for diagnosis -faulty pcu and/or mainboard I exchanched for new today.
Now Factorio starts correctly, i can start new game with all the mods or even load older save from playthrough, but i cannot load latest and autosaves.
Could you check if there is a way to recover this save game?

You just installed a new PSU and motherboard. What steps did you take to confirm this new set is working correctly?

I suggest running Memtest86+ for several hours, or overnight https://memtest.org/
And same with Prime95 - several hours, or overnight https://www.mersenne.org/download/

Computer should be stable throughout all tests and never fail. Only then you can say it's working correctly.

I did memtest for 2-3hrs and it was fine, previous gear couldnt even run for 5s without errors. Will check second one, thx.
I see alseo difference because crashes and blue screens are gone, everything works smoothly now.
I can even load my old save from other playthrough which is twice the size of this posted here, so i think i could maybe live with going to working save from this game, but it will be 30hr down the drain and i dont know if it will not end up same because if the reason here are some mods and not problem caused by previous hardware (like during saving).

I would continue on the last working save, it might take a while for dev to take a look at it if at all and even then it is not guaranteed that it's fixable.

That is unlikely since you fixed the issue. You can manually rotate a set of save files that you only save once per session, that way the most you can lose is one session worth of progress.
