I'd like plain text blueprint parameters

Post by KunaiCat »

TL;DR
When making a parameterized blueprint I want to be able to set parameters which give the user a text box to fill out when placing the BP for stuff like train station names.

What?
Setting a parameter inside a text box should allow you to make a text parameter which opens a text box instead of just letting you select a rich text icon. For clarity and to still allow easily setting rich text icons it may be beneficial to create a new blueprint parameter value, the "Text Parameter". This parameter could be added into any normal text box like train station names, the text field of a display panel, or the description of a constant combinator.
Why?
I'm certain I'm not the first person who's wished they could make the name of their train station a parameter so you could just slap down a parameterized blueprint to completely configure a new station in one go. If you want to set custom names for your stations that are more descriptive than just item icons then opening up the interface to edit the station name can be cumbersome and it's easy to forget to do it. Players are forced to use only icons for their train station names which is not always desirable and can feel like a compromise. I think this could also be really helpful for writing comments to document larger builds using a display panel. It would get rid of a few clicks and I think it would make the parameterized blueprints system feel a lot more polished and powerful.
