[2.0.76] Power switch GUI is not like all the other GUIs

Post by hgschmie »

Most (All?) GUIs have a maximum limit from which a player can open their GUI. The outline turns red if the GUI can not be opened:

Except the power switch. I tried zooming out on a big screen and even at max zoom, I can open the power switch GUI (still showing a yellow outline).

Here it is at the same distance as the GUIs above:

This seems to be a bug to me. :-)

Thanks for the report however that is fully intended. They along with electric poles have no distance limit on them since version 0.16 released in 2017.
If you want to get ahold of me I'm almost always on Discord.

Hm,

I half-expected something like this. Lamps do have a distance limit. Power-switches sit at a weird intersection; they are only useful for the power network (or not? See below) but they open a GUi that is not like the power network gui but more like the GUI of a lamp (connections to circuit and logistic network, functionality). And yet they behave like they are part of a power network (there is nothing in the power GUI that can be controlled or switched).

I am using a power switch as part of a larger entity (and clicking on it opens my custom GUI. Now I have an entity where I have inconsistent behavior depending on which I/O pin (data or power) a user clicks.

Would it be possible to add a boolean to the prototype that makes the power switch behave like "all the other GUis" ?
