[2.0.73] Flipping splitter moves items in output to wrong lane

Post by reduke »

What happens: When a splitter facing north/south is flipped vertically (or west-east horizontally), any items in its outputs are moved onto the other lane, as if the splitter had been rotated 180 degrees instead of flipped. All other settings are correctly flipped instead of being rotated.

What should happen: When flipping a splitter, items should be flipped with it, not rotated.

To reproduce: place a splitter with no output belts connected, and let one item flow into the splitter, note which lane it ends up in, then flip it.

Thank you for investigating.

I am considering this to be minor enough to not need this to be fixed at that moment. There was already some attempts at doing something similar and it was causing problems (119271). What you are describing as "expected" suggests that items that were on top-right should stay on top-right and this is not something i would do because of the differences in transport lines causing items squashing on a line. At most what i could consider is swapping items in a way that after vertical flip, item that was on the top-right of a north-facing splitter would appear on the bottom-right of a north-facing splitter, effectively it would remain on the input or output it was before.

Thanks for looking into this.

Sorry if I wasn't entirely clear. I wasn't asking for items on the top right to stay on the top right.

What I presumed would happen is that (for north facing belts):

- when a horizontal flip takes place, items on the top right flip to the top left.
- when a vertical flip takes place, items on the top right flip to the bottom right.

That way, items will not inadvertently follow a lane that a filter prohibit(s/ed).

Thanks again.
