there's a weird sound bug happening whenever there are rockets launching and you run from outside of their audio range into it.
I have encountered this for the second time now and managed to get a clip of it.

Just looking at the clip and doing some quick testing, it looks like to me the rockets started flying couple of ticks off each other. There can be up to 3 rocket flying sounds playing at the same time and if you have them couple of ticks out of phase from each other you get this kind of strange sounding interference.
I don't believe it has anything to do with running into the audible range mid launch.
Even though there are ways I could add to mitigate this kind of problem, I don't think it's a bug, technically.
Edit: I don't know if this is your case but it should be possible for the sounds to be out of phase even if the rockets started flying at the same game tick due to the latency of the audio subsystem.

The rockets are being fed when there's a request in space for the science so technically they should all fly at the same exact tick.
The reason I think this has something to do with movement is because it has only happened twice when I was moving left to right. I can try to find the other time it happened if it will help you at all but it's kind of the same scenario.
I haven't heard this when I was always in frame, just standing there next to these three silos or standing next to multiple of them sending at slightly different ticks.
Is there anything else I can provide to help find the source of this audio bug/glitch whatever it is?

The ticks of the rocket launch is saved so if you save while the rockets are flying and have the sound glitched I can easily check what's going on.

I've managed to recreate it here in this save but when the save is loaded the audio bug is gone.
I started by looking at the silos on the map and when the sound starts it's normal, then running into the range of it bugs it out. After the save is loaded again the audio bug is gone.

Thanks for the save. The rockets indeed launch at the same tick so what I think is happening is that at least one of the rocket sounds get delayed due to the audio latency I've mentioned. Then it's up to a random chance. Just loading the save file over and over again should lead to the sound glitch eventually. Or going in and out of audible range or switching remote views repeatedly, it's all the same from the sound point of view.
I was able to reproduce the issue myself by going in and out of the audible range in remote view, although I had to try a lot of times.
I'm not sure if it's even relevant but which OS and audio driver are you using?

Oh it has to be this. I recently upgraded my pc and I have windows 11 pro installed with realtek audio driver. I was able to replicate it from one save pretty much every time when running into the silos. I also tried to replicate the bug from that same save on my macbook (running sequoia 15.3.2) and I wasn't able to do so (I tried around 15 times).Donion wrote: Wed Feb 18, 2026 3:36 pm I'm not sure if it's even relevant but which OS and audio driver are you using?
I don't recall this ever happening on windows 10 or I just never ran into the silo like that which I doubt so it probably has something to do with windows 11. If you need, I can give you more detailed OS and driver information when I get from work.

Interesting, can you try going into Settings -> Sound and changing Preferred audio driver from Default to DirectSound (or if it's on DirectSound for some reason change do Default/WASAPI) and restart the game? There might be something going on between drivers that make this issue more likely to occur on your system (but I'm wildly guessing here).

I managed to get the sound bug on the first try with those settings as well.
does it maybe have something to do with me not having a preferred output set? don't ask me how that happened because I have no idea
but whenever I click esc it says I have 1 unconfirmed change even tho I didn't change it and has been on "nothing"

I am using steelseries arctis nova pro wireless (if that helps you at all) they're connected via USB to the PC and using their steelseries GG software for the virtual mixer.

Thanks for checking and for the additional info. I didn't expect the different driver to would behave differently but you never know.
I might have an idea how to solve this easily and maybe I'll sneak it into some near future release, failing that we'll figure something out for 2.1.
