What did you do?
I made a mod that added a space location with a magnitude property below 0.05, then looked at it in the starmap. What happened?
The rendering for starmap icons appeared to freak out with such a small magnitude. The icon starts scaling with zoom level (that is, it changes size relative to everything else depending on how zoomed in I am) and a gray square is sometimes visible behind transparency. It is possible that more things have happened that I didn't notice. What did you expect to happen instead?
I expected the planet to appear the same size relative to everything else as I zoomed in and out and for the gray square to not be visible, even behind transparency.Does it happen always, once, or sometimes?
It happens every time I've tried it. I've tested magnitude 0, magnitude 0.001, magnitude 0.01 and magnitudes 0.1, 0.09 and so on down to 0.04. After I tried magnitude 0.1, only 0.04 triggered the issue, which is why I'm assuming that the rendering breaks below 0.05.Additional Information
The only known solution is to just use magnitude 0.05, rather than anything lower. My planet also had draw_orbit = false, which may be relevant.
I've also tested that the issue happens with just the base, quality, elevated rails and space age mods, plus a test mod to trigger the issue that I've attached below.
Here are 3 screenshots from that test, in no particular order: Also attached is the log file and save file I used to reproduce the issue.
Finally, I'd like to note that I was unable to find any previous occurrences of the issue via search, although I didn't check that far back so I may have missed something.
