[2.0.73] Placing vehicle with equipment using pipette deletes equipment

Post by Deldrin »

Hi! I've encountered a bug, or at least a discrepancy in placing vehicles with equipment installed from a chest.
Behavior differs between placing it via pipette tool and blueprint - using former will place default vehicle, latter - will place modified one. This is particularly frustrating in earlier stages of the game when quality equipment is less available.

Steps to reproduce:
  1. Create spidetron with some equipment installed, and a custom color.
  2. Create blueprint of said spidetron and save it.
  3. Mine spidetron and place it in a chest.
  4. Place spidetron on the ground using blueprint - original vehicle will be placed.
  5. Mine spidetron and place it in a chest again.
  6. Open the chest and place spidetron using pipette tool - a new default spidetron will spawn.
Expected behavior would be to place the only spidetron available on the planet as-is: with its equipment intact, and leave it to the player to remove it manually if needed.
Using blueprint seems like a hack, which new players transporting their first spidetron between planets will probably not understand. (I had to use editor to make the blueprint itself, as my player was on a different planet)

Thanks for the report, this is working correctly - pipette places a default configured ghost in the cursor and so when it’s built the robots will remove any equipment not matching the default configuration.
If you want to get ahold of me I'm almost always on Discord.
