"From Scratch" achievement for each new planet (except Aquilo)

"From Scratch" achievement for each new planet (except Aquilo)
Proposal: A new achievement for each of Fulgora, Vulcanus, and Gleba.
"From Scratch" or some similar name, given for launching a rocket from each of these planets without bringing anything along (other than construction bots).

I'd like this as well, that would be pretty cool

Re: "From Scratch" achievement for each new planet (except Aquilo)
and except power armor fully stuffed with gear ? And except...
Re: "From Scratch" achievement for each new planet (except Aquilo)
Any armor, any weapons, any number of construction bots, but nothing else: No roboports, no assembly machines, no chests, etc.
To put it another way: Nothing dropped from a platform except construction bots.

Re: "From Scratch" achievement for each new planet (except Aquilo)
So people who bring flying robot frames and green chips wouldn't get it?
Re: "From Scratch" achievement for each new planet (except Aquilo)
While there is obviously room to discuss what counts towards it, and what does not, I think it's still doable.
I mean, "lazy bastard" exists as an achievement, so why not this in the same spirit?

(But if you want the extra rocket capacity of bringing them up separately, you could certainly do so and then assemble them on the platform.)Kyralessa wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 1:04 pmCorrect.crimsonarmy wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 11:03 am So people who bring flying robot frames and green chips wouldn't get it?

I would go for the hard core version: nothing dropped except what is in your armour grid, specifically not even bots. Having done all three planets that way, it really doesn't take that long to "rush" bots.

I say nothing. I may accept armor maybe.
Re: "From Scratch" achievement for each new planet (except Aquilo)
If you ask for this achievement, you cannot allow anything to be dropped, not even bots. Either all or nothing. Everything in between is cheating. Since the game doesn't make a distinction between a naked player and a fully armed and equipped player in terms of rocket launches, it's probably reasonable to allow full armor equipment.
WIth these prerequisites it's probably quite easy to implement these achievements with no game engine changes:
- event on_cargo_pod_delivered_cargo fired and not player on board: invalidate achievement for given planet
- event on_rocket_launched fired and achievement not invalidated and not yet unlocked: unlock achievement for given planet

When I talk about allowing construction bots, it's in the same spirit where Lazy Bastard allows 111 hand crafts even though you don't need quite that many. You can do Fulgora, Vulcanus, and Gleba from scratch without construction bots, but the only difference is you're making it take longer than necessary while you hand-mine and hand-chop.
Maybe two achievements, one with construction bots and one without?

Seems like the guy did all planets almost from scratch, THEN learn they could just import everything and build science production im half an hour.
I agree with previous replies, either it's from scratch like Nauvis (no armor, no bots) or no achievement.

Not sure if "the guy" means me or whom, but on my first playthrough, I imported gobs of stuff to each planet. That led to me doing planets in suboptimal ways...especially Gleba, where I tried to use bots for everything and it was a disaster.kitters wrote: Sat Jan 31, 2026 5:38 pm Seems like the guy did all planets almost from scratch, THEN learn they could just import everything and build science production im half an hour.![]()

Construction bots relieve the tedium of mining rocks and chopping trees and allow you to reuse blueprints from other planets where it makes sense, saving the effort for fresh design such as the recycling of Fulgora or the foundries of Vulcanus or the riot of nutrient-requiring recipes on Gleba.
But again, I could see both achievements, one for doing everything from scratch but with construction bots, and one for doing everything from scratch without them.

I would allow armor if only because it isn't all that useful on new planets (other than maybe a bit discharge defense on Gleba) so much as it is just nice to have faster walking speed.
There's also the minor concern of accidentally forgetting to take off your armor and invalidating the achievement since the rocket itself doesn't actually require you to take it off.
The only big deal is the Mech Armor's jet pack to fly over lakes and lava if you go to Fulgora first but even that is just for navigation and getting around and not actually constructing your factory from ground up.
The only reason I'm against construction bots is because you can't have them in your armor, you have to specifically ship them to the planet by dropping them in from orbit and at that point, we are already opening a massive loophole just so people can have bots when you could just prioritize your factory to build bots as quickly as possible and then, once you have a few, pivot to a proper science and rocket factory.
