How to make quality rocket parts

1. Build a rocket silo and a constant combinator.

2. Set the constant combinator to "Rocket part".

3. Blueprint the rocket silo and constant combinator.

4. Click the parametrise button.

5. Click the rocket part icon.

6. Change quality to the level you want.

7. Confirm 3 times.

8. Place the blueprint.

You now have a silo that accepts quality ingredients and makes quality rocket parts!

Love it! This could be another achievement, the Why Yes I do have Gold Plated Rocket Parts in my SIlo.
My own personal Factorio super-power - running out of power.

It allows inserters to put normal quality rocket ingredients in the silo.
Useful for silo chesting.
and launching rocket ingredients without the use of bots, but I'm not sure how to make the rocket parts in that case

Waow, that's a nice one x) it was often requested by players ways to deal entirely without robots or ship the components of the rocket parts with inserters and belt only, and it was there all along ! Quite convoluted but making a lot of sense when thinking of it :)

I just tested, you can make the rocket parts with regular inserter inserting legendary quality component on the silo, those will automatically stop when the rocket has enough parts, while in the meantime other inserters can insert blue circuit or rocket fuel, of low quality, those are now treated as regular cargo, inserted until the weight limit is reached.

Yes, with rocket ingredients of the appropriate quality level.
Those are more expensive though, so not sure it's worth it to pay the higher price just to avoid bots.
That's my own ignorance though, I simply cannot figure out a scenario where it works out.

It would be really nice if higher quality rockets had bigger payload capacity!

Rocket silo as chest? Interesting. This possibility is a side effect of the function to trash unlaunched items in automatic mode and clean the rocket silo. Using the silo as a chest in the simulation has no equivalent in the real world, so it is an invalid use, so for me it's a cheat if you take advantage of this.
