Display Radar Coverage and Locations in Remote View

Post by Meehael »

TL;DR
Display coverage (from radars, roboports...) in remote view as a layer overview, as well as sources' locations (radars, roboports...) as icons in the remote view map. Something very similar to logistic network and how we're able to see coverage and locations of roboports.
What?
It would be useful to be able to see total radar coverage in remote view, too, instead of only in mini-map. When placing ghosts, too.
Also, to be able to see locations of coverage sources as icons in the remote view map.

Maybe add a new button for that layer here?

Why?
This is especially useful when having radars scattered accross the map, some being powered only by solar panels (so they turn off at night), and trying to expand visibility and cover gaps.
Also, it's useful in case when some radars are powered only by solar panels and wanting to see where they are exactly (using icons) so to connect them with electricity poles.

Thanks

+1 It would also be very helpful to show the coverage when you are placing a radar. No more guessing and having to move a radar once or twice before getting the coverage I want.

Feature exists?

The mini/map shows "Revealed" areas in the clear, while "Hidden" areas are shaded darker.

When holding a Radar in-cursor, the Minimap shows a blue-ish overlay of additional Coverage.

Individual Radars can be found by using an Upgrade Planner across your base. If there is no Item/Quality available to fulfill the request you will get a "missing the material for construction" notification which can be Pinned.

Custom Map Colors enables you to set a highlighted color for certain entity types so that they stand out on the Map.

Good Luck!

Thanks, but this doesn't apply when it's night and radars are powered by solar panels, unfortunately. In this case, areas go dark for up to ~2 minutes on Gleba.

Second, you don't see radar coverage when placing ghosts in remote view in any case.

You see it in the minimap, yes, but not on the actual map in the remote view.
There was a similar issue with roboports where you couldn't see their range when placing ghosts, but that was changed in the meantime in a patch.

TIL... I would rather see it on the map, but the mini map is better than nothing. Thank you!
