What did you do?

I love Gleba so I spend quite a lot of time there expanding, building, interacting with the wildlife. Eventually I brought artillery to answer the Pentapod question with tungston fury, but after blasting the five-legged friends into fertiliser I found that the Spore cloud was growing out of control and bloating the size of Gleba due to creating new chunks so I disassembled the artillery and waited for the Pentapods to expand.

What happened?

It's been about 20 hours since the last artillery shell was fired and there have been very few enemy expansions. I opened up the debug view to see enemy expansion chunks and the flashing green circles come and go without the Pentapods establishing new egg nests.

What did you expect to happen instead? It might be obvious to you, but do it anyway!
At high evolution (it's 0.96) I expect a new expansion roughly once every 4 minutes.

Does it happen always, once, or sometimes?
I've been watching the enemy expansion view in debug for a while now and it almost always results in no new nests.

As an added note, I am playing on default Deathworld settings with the small adjustment that Gleba enemies/bases were set to 200%

The savegame is attached. Load up the Gleba world, enable "Show enemy expansions" in the debug view and watch as expansions candidates flash, then do not get settled.
