Version 2.0.71

Post by FactorioBot »

Bugfixes
  • Fixed asteroid collector navmesh would in rare cases be stuck computing forever. (130063)
  • Fixed crash on Intel Macs with Intel Iris Plus Graphics by disabling GPU timings for those cards.
  • Fixed freeze with unknown cause when placing rails. (131330)
Previous changelog: Version 2.0.70

New versions are released as experimental first and later promoted to stable. If you wish to switch to the experimental version on Steam, choose the experimental Beta Participation option under game settings; on the stand-alone version, check Experimental updates under Other settings.

What exactly is the asteroid collector navmesh used for? Just for picking asteroids?

I mean, as far as changelogs go in the modern day that's pretty darn descriptive. Even if it's the equivalent of a blank sheet of paper from Wube
Py and PyBlock developer, wielder of LUA in arbitrary ways. I make mods. Check them out, maybe.

Wube devs are so good, they can fix undiscovered bugs. They squash bugs preemptively. 😃

Factorio so good at memory testing, it's now detecting cosmic rays in the build server that affected one platform's deployment but not the others.
My mods: Multiple Unit Train Control, RGB Pipes, Shipping Containers, Rocket Log, Smart Artillery Wagons.
Maintainer of Auto Deconstruct, Cargo Ships, Vehicle Wagon, Honk, Shortwave.

Long story short: Wube didn't discover (yet) exact circumstances why working-fine-everywhere-else code freezes at some known point but they discovered exact game state which causes freeze. Most likely they added some condition check or exception handler to that part of code.

no they added nothing lol, it's probably a weird bug that either come from compiler, or come from code that would invoke undefined behavior, both are very hard to track and since there is no repro except for 2.0.70 without space age... they basically said well as long as it's gone and doesn't come back let's assume some weird compilation bug. He may or may not reappear again, you can read the issue about it. Also please to all peoples I just made a funny meme, don't take it seriously. It was the perfect meme for this case and I personally love to laugh.

As the bug causes CTD/freeze and can be reproduced, it comes with critical priority with situational bandaid allowed. 2.0.71 patchnotes just reports that game no longer freezes in the circumstances. Investigation for UB/compiler bug/etc will take some time and such work must be done after the product state is restored to working.

As for the meme. I triggered because it looks like you laughing at developers, not with them.

I advice you let the peoples talk by themself. Also, I didn't write "factorio dev" I write a version number - -.
