Re: [Posila] [0.16.29] Corrupted graphics - SOLVED

Post by Cyclonut »

I just had my corrupted graphics, much worse than the above ones, fixed by a Customer Service rep Scott.
My screens were corrupted when I tried to zoom in and out of the action, in that in the background, it turned black, and also items were painted all over the scene, even ones that I was not using in the game like alphabet letters, blue belts, dividers, undergrounds, you name it, splashed all over the background. I have been playing this game for over 8,029 hours and this glitch developed about 3 months ago, probably from me fiddling with settings to improve game speed, I don't know. Also, corrupted graphics were evident right in the game splash videos, maybe 4th and on, showing these objects which should not be there. And finally, also was corrupted pop up windows in the Settings, where I could not read entries if the window contents was higher than bottom third of my screen. I would have to drag the pop up down, to read the lines, settings and choices. Very discouraging.
Solution, Scott suggested to go into Factorio properties (in Steam) and under General, to type in --force-d3d in the Launch Options line. Bang, problem solved.
Before this solution, I was asked about try setting the game to run using OpenGL? It should be with `--force-opengl` in the Steam launch options, but my game log file said this: 1.454 Initialised OpenGL:[2] Quadro T2000/PCIe/SSE2; driver: 3.3.0 NVIDIA 581.15, so I thought that I already had OpenGL working.
Hope this helps others. Hello from Canada.
