When having personal logistics request with maximum value set to "inf." and "Trash unrequested" is off, then the maximum amount of items you can have will be infinite and they will not be automatically added to trash slots. Though, if you turn on the "Trash unrequested", all items above the assigned minimum value would be put into trash slots.
Not knowing that beforehand, I for some time struggled to understand what's going on with my logistics and at some point thought it was a bug with the logic. Though it appears there have already been a bug report and a discussion about this behavior here 117306 and here viewtopic.php?t=122179. Overall it was decided not to change anything because it already works as it is and there is a use case that some players use where they quickly toggle the "Trash unrequested" on and off to remove any items above minimum, and have it off for the most time.
As a new player, I find this logic kinda confusing, though if this logic is not going to change then I am asking to change the tooltip description that is shown when you hover the mouse over "Trash unrequested" button to include this logic, so that for all new players this behavior would be clear.
As you can see in this image, the description does not in any way say that "Trash unrequested" would put the items above minimum to the trash slots if the maximum is set to "inf.".
The appropriate fix would be to add this to the description, a quick suggestion is something in the manner of "If the maximum amount for a request is inf., then also moves items above requested amount to trash slots."
