Shunting train | Train logistics | Coupling/decoupling of cars

Post by ImBoolka »

TL;DR
Adding a variety of trains or the ability to change the operating mode of a regular train in order to improve logistics

What?
There was an idea to add to the game the possibility of automated detachment / attachment of wagons to trains, as well as to a new type of train (or to a special setting of the usual one) - a shunting train. This train will work at a slower speed than the usual ones, but compensating for this with its interesting mechanics - it will be able to transport a larger number of wagons on short distances, attach and detach them, as well as move backwards without additional settings. From this, it would be possible to organize an entire depot, where one shunting train could roll back one chain of wagons to a parking lot or unloading area and bring in a new chain, which would be picked up by the same train that had detached the previous ones. This way, one train would be able to quickly switch between different chains of wagons and perform a function that previously required multiple trains.

Why?
This should help with the logistics as I described above. It's possible that this has already been implemented in mods or suggested, so I apologize if this is the case.

Automatic Coupling adds some functionality you may find interesting.

Good Luck!
