It's not the power boost that's most important (though it certainly helps) but the hugely reduced materials cost. On Nauvis, even ignoring the space requirements, the capital cost is very large. Solar power requires large quantities of iron and copper, which on Nauvis are the limiting resources, and consequently valuable. But on Vulcanus they are effectively free, so the only question is 'Do I have the space for this?'. Until the answer to that question becomes 'No', solar is a viable choice.
To add to this: the fast day night cycle on Vulcanus also boosts solar as more of the space can be devoted to panels rather than acumulators

Actually I would agree with the premise.
https://www.reddit.com/r/factorio/comme ... alisation/ here it says one chemical plant supports 33.3 steam turbines, each produce 5.8 MW, so 193 MW from a single chemical plant!
The Vulcanus solar panels produce 240 kW at full daylight, so it's the equivalent of 800 solar panels. Although making solar panels is basically free too - because of the infinite iron and copper, nothing on Vulcanus is really balanced!
