Are you afraid of updates? You guys remind me of the people who didn't want to update from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and now don't want to update from Windows 10 to Windows 11, just because it is some unfamiliar change.

As opposed to those of us who didn't want to upgrade because Windows 11 is objectively worse? (Obtrusive ads, obtrusive "news", obtrusive "AI", no more full-screen Start menu...)

My point is to go with the changes. Everywhere. Not just Factorio but everywhere. Don't resist. This is a general mindset. The world will change ruthlessly, no matter what you do. If you don't change with it and always stay up to date, you will be left behind and you will find yourself in a world getting smaller and smaller surrounded by people you don't understand any more, and in the end you will be alone.
I looked at the abyss of staying behind, and I was truly horrified, so I stepped back. Don't want to end up like the old men who disconnected from the world. Youth is what you should follow if you can no longer lead yourself. Not the old men.

With that mind set, you would do well to read some G. K. Chesterton.

Tradition means giving votes to the most obscure of all classes, our ancestors. It is the democracy of the dead. All democrats object to men being disqualified by the accident of birth; tradition objects to their being disqualified by the accident of death. I, at any rate, cannot separate the two ideas of democracy and tradition; it seems evident to me that they are the same idea.

There exists in such a case a certain institution or law; let us say, for the sake of simplicity, a fence or gate erected across a road. The more modern type of reformer goes gaily up to it and says, “I don’t see the use of this; let us clear it away.” To which the more intelligent type of reformer will do well to answer: “If you don’t see the use of it, I certainly won’t let you clear it away. Go away and think. Then, when you can come back and tell me that you do see the use of it, I may allow you to destroy it.”
