When you switch surface views (e.g. looking at nauvis, then switching to a space platform) while music is playing, the music quickly fades out so it can switch to the appropriate surface.
There should be a setting that stops music from fading out when switching surface views. Instead, it finishes the track it's playing, then looks at the currently viewed surface when deciding what track to play next.
Personally, when I switch surface views, 90% of the time it's just to fix a small thing that takes less than a minute. I'd much rather the track continue playing instead of dipping out for a minute so I can hear another track that lasts for less than 30 seconds before I switch views again. If I truly am going to be spending enough time on the new surface to warrant its music playing, then finishing the song from the previous surface will only take a few minutes at most anyway.

In the Hidden Settings Menu you will find the option music-transition-fade-out-ticks, which can be increased to a larger value like 3600 (= 60 Seconds * 60 UPS). I really wish that this was the Default Value; 120 Ticks (2 seconds) is way too short!

Good Luck!

Lot of Space Age tracks are actually quite long.willb.gaming wrote: Tue Jul 15, 2025 2:31 pm ... the song from the previous surface will only take a few minutes at most anyway.
You probably want music-transition-delay-ticks (default is 480 ticks = 8s) and not the fade-out-ticks. The delay dictates how long you need to remain on the new surface before the music transition actually happens.eugenekay wrote: Tue Jul 15, 2025 2:53 pm In the Hidden Settings Menu you will find the option music-transition-fade-out-ticks

D’oh, I have both of these turned-up to 1 minute (for a long “transition”). Guess I forgot the other one!
