[2.0.55] Crash on Alt+Tab (SDL_GL_SwapWindowWithResult)

Post by andrew008 »

Hey everyone,

I'm experiencing an issue where Factorio crashes whenever I do Alt+Tab. It happens, whether I'm in game, or even just in the main menu.
It seems very similar to the problem described in this topic - viewtopic.php?t=121951.
I expect the game to work properly, without any crushes, after doint ALT+TAB.

Let me know if you need any more info - I'm happy to help troubleshoot!

While I don't have a solution for you, I can maybe offer some helpful information:

Factorio does not do anything special when alt-tabbing. In fact, Factorio doesn't do exclusive fullscreen so alt + tab functionally should have no effect on the process.

It's crashing inside the SDL OpenGL x11 glXSwapBuffers graphics swap function which says to me video driver or video render hook issue - something outside of our control.

The above two things tell me the issue is something on your operating system and not something we have any control over. Has it *ever* worked on your system? If so, when did it stop working?
If you want to get ahold of me I'm almost always on Discord.

Thanks! I think you’re right -- this might be a driver issue.

After reading your response, I tried unchecking Fullscreen mode in the Graphics Settings, and, for now, the game runs fine -- no more crashes. Not really a solution but it works for me xD.

Hope this helps someone else with the same problem!
