Looks like when reaching end game we don't have many options other than horizontally scale factory size (copy-paste blue prints) to progress more. Getting idea from game mode rocket rush and supply challenge, I think add a random research mechaic might be interesing
Researching out Promithium gives a building may now just called 'Random Machine'(RM), which generates a random recipe that inputs some random meterials and directly outputs research progress.
RM may generate out recipes that includes any minable/craftable by game; material prices are pre-defined like how the market in rocket rush defines, and the machine may work like the rocket silo - each craft gives some amount of progress percentage, when progress full, instantly outputs research progress, remove the building resets current progress. Total material price * crafts needed to max out increases with Promithium level.
for eg. define copper ore = 1 price, engine = 10 price, railgun ammo = 100 price, nuclear reactor = 10k price. Each research progress costs 1k price with little deviation allowed. The RM might generate such recipe at different Promithium level:
at level 1: price * crafts is defined as around 1M, so recipe would be 110 copper ore + 85 engine (960 price) need craft 1000 times, then it outputs 990 progress and auto switch recipe to 1 nuclear + 350 engine (13500 price) craft 100 times, output 1100 progress when done.
at level 40: pre-defined price * crafts = ~70M , so generate out recipe 200k copper ore + 9500 engine + 3 nuclear (325k) craft 200 times = 71k progress, then switch to 100 nuclear + 12500 railgun ammo (2.25M)craft 30 times = 64k progress etc.
Seems this idea would add some endless challanges to end game, esp. think about some end-products are appearing in recipe (spidertron, power armor MK2) or some nasty combos (yamato mesh + atomic bomb + cryogenic plant + Promithium chunk..., or I guess we should allow reroll recipe at a cost)
