Mod sync on vanilla saves

I don't know if that will solve it for you, but you could install the game in two separate folders, use two shortcuts to run them. That way, your mods and saves will never mix.
Re: Mod sync on vanilla saves
yeah that's true but since it's already a thing in the game it would be nice to have that for the vanilla as well, especially because of the steam version and the achievements there. between designing blueprints and going for the speedy achievements, if I forget my mods on I have to rollback to the previous save file to keep achievements enabled on that save.
Re: Mod sync on vanilla saves
I agree. Even though the most common thing to do after installing a mod is load a save that does not already have the mod in it, you should always be given the options to sync. There should not be special treatment given to saves without *any* mods yet. Especially since Space Age DLC exist as mods now, you should be able sync to vanilla saves after running a Space Age save.
My mods: Multiple Unit Train Control, RGB Pipes, Shipping Containers, Rocket Log, Smart Artillery Wagons.

Yeah I mean not just going to pure base vanilla but even when going from space age with a mod or to back to space age this doesn't work which is surprising
