[2.0.47] Side loading belt takes from side instead of inline.

Post by nmuhlbauer »

Really odd problem. Space platform kept backing up periodically, but I couldn't find it till I saw it happen real time.

I have an asteroid quality upscaler loop. Pretty basic setup. A loop of belts around a bunch of crushers that the end of one loop side will sort and forward better quality items to the next stage while the non upgraded items loop around again for another try. These "try again" items side load into the other side of the loop in a spot that should take precedence over new items coming into the mix. See pic. The issue is that the new item feed will periodically stop the inline flow and only take from the side. It's not consistent that I can see, and while watching it in real time, an autosave triggered and made it switch back to the inline feed for a while before switching back to the side again. I have a circuit setup that monitors the side of the loop and only lets more fresh items in if the loop is under half full. I think somehow the sidebelt activation is giving it priority over the inline belt. The setup is basically the same at the top and bottom of the loop. The issue happens on both ends.

I disabled all the QOL mods I use and rebuilt the intersections just to be sure. The issue still happens. It's not constant and seems to only happen when belts are getting full.

The issue is on the space platform called "Nauvis Space Base" and it's in the lower or upper left corner of the main area. You might have to watch it for a few minutes to see the issue happen. So far it looks like it's mostly metallic asteroids that get stopped.
