Allow cargo wagons to inherit color of the locomotive

There is a way to have colored wagons the in game already, but it involves some python script shenanigans to modify the color property of the wagon in the blueprint string, as shown in the post viewtopic.php?t=117429. There is also a mod that does it: https://mods.factorio.com/mod/Automatic_Train_Painter

I believe it is a cool feature, and it seems like almost all the code for it is already in the game.
