This post is my humble attempt to create a list of ships (space platforms) and categorize them using standardized specifications (size, speed, reach, etc.).

There are already some space platform threads, however they're quite disorganized: behemoth ships mixed with stationary platforms, discussions, and most importantly no easy way to find ships with specific specifications: for example, if I want to find ships under 500 tons that can travel to Aquilo, there isn't an easy way to search for them.

The goal here is to create an index: a thread to rule reference them all. Anyone who posts their ship, or posts a link to their thread, with their ship specifications, will have their ships added to the table. This way, it will be easy to search for and compare ships with specific characteristics: speed, power source, capacity...

Nice idea!
I would like to see the creator's name in the table - how many of us have ships named Prometheus or Enterprise or Falcon?
It would also be very convenient if the table included a link to the post, so when I find a ship in the table I can quickly go look at it.
I would also be interested if the table included the type of defences.

I am a little confused by the size column. I would expect the size to be X then Y if not stated, but it looks like you have gone Y (height) and then X (width). Maybe just specify in the header.

Could you also clarify the Reach column. It kind of looks like Inner planets (Vulcanus, Fulgora, Gleba); Aquilo; Edge; and Shattered planet, fair enough as a grouping as what you need for a ship is constrained by those destination groups. It seems odd when the Main mission column duplicates that information; perhaps you could remove the destination from the mission, just say science. For the Shattered planet group, it seems redundant to say Sh and distance, distance alone tells you it is Shattered planet.

Maybe split Prometheum storage into its own column.

It would be helpful to have a template for people posting their creations, make that two templates, one for ships that have been posted elsewhere that just has the table entry and a link to the original post, and one for posting here that includes and hides the screenshot. Not sure about hiding the blueprint, it can hide the fact that the blueprint is missing (see the Kestrel in your ship list).
Like the templates for reporting bugs and suggesting ideas, the templates should include guidance on filling out the template. I really like the description you have for your Prometheus and I am kind of sad that there is no description for your other ships. You have included combinators in the table, I think it would be great if the template included a spot specifically to talk about the use of combinators. Other possible description details: overall design philosophy; the ship schedule, schedule conditions, use of interrupts; ammo production; and speed controls.

Thanks Amarula for that excellent feedback. I have updated the following:
  • Creator name and index column (to link the post below, as I believe that the code format doesn't render html links)
  • Defenses
  • Swapped x and y for sizes
  • Simplified Reach column and adapted description - good idea of using the distance as a shattered planet reach indicator, I extended it to all planets (15 / 45 / 145 / 145+x)
  • Added a template (WIP)
  • I haven't splitted Promethium storage into it's own column... yet (I may change my mind later).
You're right, the kestrel blueprint is missing... because my post exceeded 60000 characters :o But it's no big deal, this ship is just my starter, it doesn't do anything special, just flying around slowly...

I think I understand what you meant about the templates, I added an entry form and a description template. It's very basic at the moment.

This is my space casino, to reprocess asteroid chunks to legendary.
The top of the ship makes ammo for the gun turrets.
The bottom of the ship makes fuel and oxidizer for the thruster.
The asteroid chunks are fed one at a time onto a belt, which reads the type and quality of chunk, and sets the recipe for reprocessing. Legendary chunks are filtered up to be crushed and inserted into the hub. All other chunks are passed on for further reprocessing.
The constant combinator contains the recipes for reprocessing all non legendary chunks. The decider matches the chunk with the recipe, and outputs the recipe. This is not an efficient use, the next casino will have dedicated reprocessing for each type.
Yes, I steal extra oxide for water/calcite for fuel, and extra metallic for iron ore for oxidizer if needed.
Legendary ice just gets tossed overboard.
Carbon and sulfur are used for legendary coal; the carbon chunks are counted so that one chunk goes straight to carbon for every five that go to sulfur. Otherwise I run out of carbon and the sulfur backs up.

For those of us playing without the quality option, it would be nice to know which ships can be built without quality.

Space platform are balanced with Space Age, which is intended to be used along the quality sub-extension, as it massively affects entities like asteroid collectors with range, arm speed, and adds many additional arms.

I'm reluctant to include ships with a different set of mod than the Space Age extension package, so that means no modded or sub-modded ships.

Most ships would work without any quality machines, it just has to be slower. The setup displayed in screenshot shows the recommended quality for machines.

If any ship is designed without quality, it can be mentioned in the post or in the description column. I could also add a Quality column, I may do it if non-quality ships are posted.
