Logistics groups interface could use work.

Post by Laramy65 »

So logi groups are usefull but i have few gripes with how they are implemented. I will present my complaints in an ordered list starting from least significant.

firstly a group should allow duplicates. when you select an item you are able to select quality first and the item second or you can do it reverse order. this is good design, and you would hope that this should always work. however, if you want to add an item of different quality to the group, you will use the pipete tool to select the item you already have, try to add it to the group and get an error. or you can click on an empty slot select an item and get an error. this could be avoided if you allow groups to have duplicates.

the intervalls with inf. as the upper bound should work correctly. when you set a buffer chest to have to hold on to [0,inf. ] of an item and trash unrequested, it will discard any item placed inside. in general if set the lower bound to x and leave the upper bound unchanged and trash unrequested it will act as if you set the chest to have x items precisely. to get the desired behaviour i have to set and intervall [x, big number ]

the biggest gripe i have is about interplanetary logistics. firstly i think that the options it gives you in regards of where you import from should be more flexible. a single item could be imported from multiple places. you should be able to set multiple planets as sources for an item. i would really like an option to only import from silos.

most importantly the source planet should not change when you change the amount of an item in a menu that doesnt let to select a source planet. this is the most gamebreaking thing i brought up, as it isnt even obvious that it happened. why doesnt this item get here? its because i forgot to set the source planet again. and i kept making this mistake but it turns out it is the game that is wrong. and i feel very strongly that my supply network shouldnt break whenever i edit logistic groups
