Mega Basing without mining
Hey, so I had an Idea. I wanna try to build a mega base that doesn't use miners, at least not for the resources you can get from Space. The question is: Is there a way to get limitless throughput from the landing pad? Because usually, you are limited by the amount of inserters you can place around the cargo landing pad. Is there a way to circumvent this restriction without mods? And if there isn't, what mods could I use to circumvent it?
Re: Mega Basing without mining
You'd be limited by robots picking up from the landing pad or your UPS more than by the inserter throughput i think, as those caps quite early but you can reach massive throughput with bots on a single landing pad.
There's couple mod to make it easier on that bottleneck risk too in case:
https://mods.factorio.com/mod/landing-pad-research
https://mods.factorio.com/mod/additiona ... nding-pads
https://mods.factorio.com/mod/more-landing-pads

oh wait...I forgot about the bot thing
Thanks

Robots moving items to Requester Chests slightly away from the Landing Pad, but still close enough to get good Throughput, is the Vanilla solution. These can then be used to feed a Train system for long-distance distribution, etc.
Multiple Landing Pads does work; but it goes against one of the design decisions of “One Pad per Surface”; I don’t like it but that’s just me.
Cargo Bay Inserters enables Inserters to feed/drain from the Expansion bays; not just the central Hub/Landing Pad. If used carelessly it does enable Item Teleportation between the extreme ends of a Ship or base; also against one of the major Space Age Design decisions. I like it anyway.
Loaders Can Stack enables Item Stacking (up to x4) to affect Loaders (max belt rate of 60/s); allowing up to 240items/second per Belt. I like using AAI Loaders; with Lubricant there is at least an attempt at balancing the mechanics. It doesn’t break any core Design Choices; it just makes the numbers bigger. You can also add Infinite Belt Stacking for sillier-looking belts.
Good Luck!
