Prioritized Research Queue

Post by Metaing »

TL;DR

Either always make Research Queue prioritized or add "Prioritized Research Queue" option either in Research Queue window or in Settings

What ?

If in prioritize mode a Lab will produce the highest prioritized Technology in the Research Queue possible with the available science packs available.
If not in prioritized mode, then it works as today.

Why ?

Today you can only research one Technology at a time across all planets and no matter which science packs are available in each lab.
In the mid game (when on multiple planets) it would be very useful to be able to research planet specific planet technologies on the planet where it belongs. Eg., in parallel, research "Low Density Structure Produtctivity" on Vulcanus and "Worker Robot Speed" on Fulgora. This will be possible if Research Queue is prioritized.
In the end game (where research requires science packs from multiple planets) it would be very useful to be able to research technologies for which the science packs are actual present in the labs. This will be possible if Research Queue is prioritized.

As is today it requires a lot of babysitting of the Research Queue if you want to optimize technology research just a little bit. Eg. if you want to use the Gleba science packs as soon as possible when they are present to avoid spoilage. Or if you want to use the promethium science packs when they arrive from beyond the edge of the solar system. Without keeping an eye on the transport ships all the time.
Everything else in the game can be fully automated even gathering of promethium science packs.

The production bar and production bonus bar can be saved with each technology, just as with progressed research for each technology. Nothing needs to be lost due to switching research automatically. This way it doesnt matter if research switches often.
