It used to be that Factorio was just a ZIP file that you'd unzip wherever, so you could have multiple versions installed.
Now, the installer uninstalls the previous version.
How do I install multiple versions?
I need to install multiple versions for a few reasons:
- The Nintendo Switch version lags behind the PC version and I need to be able to keep the older version installed so I can play with my friends on their swithes.
- I have save files that are not compatible with newer versions that I still like to play.
- Sometimes I like to try new development versions but keep my stable version installed.
- Etc.
Are Factorio installs still available as ZIP files somewhere?

Took a break from 0.12.29 to 0.17.79, and then to ... oh god now it's 1.something. I never know what's happening.

The zip version still works like that, if you are using the installer you are not using the zip version though.JasonC wrote: Sat Apr 05, 2025 11:37 pm It used to be that Factorio was just a ZIP file that you'd unzip wherever, so you could have multiple versions installed.

Re: Installing multiple versions
That's a link for 2.0.43, more generally https://factorio.com/download has Windows installers and zip versions (the 4 little buttons), and at the bottom of that page you can find a link to older versions.
There are 10 types of people: those who get this joke and those who don't.
