Hey all,

I'm hoping someone can help me find a solution to my corrupted map. Both the manual save and all 3 autosaves for this map give the same error "corrupt map: bad loaded inserter filter count: 100 > 5 (max)." To the best of my knowledge there was nothing unusual about how I signed off of the game last time I played. I have had intermittent game crashes since the release of spaceage but none of those resulted in a corrupted save file, and it's been at least a week since the last one. Running windows 11, rtx3080, updated drivers and game files.

Since posting this I have tried to enable the load corrupted saves setting but receive the same error. I've also tried loading into the map editor which gives the same error. The game doesn't crash when attempting to load the file.

I found the autosaves from first traveling to new planets and those load fine, but there's about 30 hours more work on my most recent saves so I'd really prefer to get those back.

Is there a tool or resource that will allow me to read or edit the save file myself? The fact that the error is so specific gives me hope that it's possible to fix.

Unfortunately your save file seems to be corrupted and i am not seeing ways to fix it. Just trying to load all 100 item filters (even when in memory there can be at most 5 of them) fails to load other entities, and by forcing amount of filters loaded to 5 it also fails to load other entities.

I understand that nothing can be done. I am really curious how all of my autosaves could give the exact same error. Any chance you have an idea how this could happen? Just to satisfy my own curiosity.

The game got corrupted in memory and while it continued all autosaves were overwritten with the same corruption.

AAhhh ok that makes sense. I had assumed that if the game was corrupted while running it would have crashed. I appreciate the replies everyone! Time to start Gleba over I guess. :space-age:

Since most of the corrupted saves on the forum are eventually attributed to failing hardware, I went ahead and ran Memtest(normal tests plus hammertest) and the intel processor diagnostic tool.

Both tests passed. Not that this means anything one way or another, I just enjoy data. Always back up your saves folks!

Try running Prime95 also. This one targets CPU.

Thanks for the idea! I did run the intel diagnostic tool, which I'm pretty sure does some form of stress/stability testing, but took your advice anyway and tried out Prime95.

Aside from some thermal throttling, there were no issues running Prime95 for 30 mins all cores, standard array of tests, hyperthreaded. Considering my fans don't even spin up when I play Factorio I doubt heat is the issue here.

My bios was updated after the 13th/14th gen intel issues a year or two ago and just to be sure I updated it again after all of this. I don't have anything overclocked. I only play vanilla Factorio/Space Age. At this point I'm attributing the error to cosmic rays and/or an act of god. So it goes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As always I appreciate any ideas and feedback!
