I searched Gameplay Help for a similar issue and found none. (Maybe I don't know how to search correctly)
This is my first time playing Space Age although I have lots of hours in Factorio.
I've researched Fulgora and it appears in the Remote view under Planets.
I've navigated a space platform to Fulgora as my first new planet, while I remain on Nauvis.
I selected Fulgora in Remote view as the surface to be viewed and it was all black.
I manually dropped a Cargo Landing Pad then tried to view Fulgora again and it is still all black.
I had planned to drop materials to the Cargo Landing Pad and start developing a base on Fulgora but I'm not able to see the planet surface.
I need some help for what I'm doing wrong here.
Planet remote view is all black
Re: Planet remote view is all black
You have to go to the planet. You have to set up all of the infrastructure there for power, bots, etc. Once you do that, you can control it remotely.
Re: Planet remote view is all black
You have to personally land on the planet to actually place the cargo landing pad and start doing work. It's not self-deploying, so it's just sitting there in a drop pod waiting for you.
You'll probably want to search around for the best island to build on. I found a car to be helpful for this, since it can drive on the light oil ocean.

Re: Planet remote view is all black
Thanks all.
I thought I had read somewhere that it could all be done remotely.
I'll try jumping on the platform this time.
I've also packed a Rocket Silo and materials to build a rocket so I can get back.

Re: Planet remote view is all black
Sorry for all the hand holding requests.
I'm on the platform above Fulgora now.
How do I get from the platform to the planet?

Re: Planet remote view is all black
Sorry, I just found the Drop to planet button on the right side.
I was looking at the hub menus.

Don’t feel bad - it took me a few tries to figure out the new Space Platform mechanics too
Without giving away too much: it is true that you do need to do the “initial setup” of each Planet by hand since there is no infrastructure to start. But you can switch to Remote View the platform in-orbit, and Ctrl-Click on items to launch a Drop Pod down to the Planet you are on…. Such as all of the ingredients needed to Hand-Assemble a Rocket Silo, some solar panels, Roboports, and a pile of Rocket Parts - everything needed to return to the comfort of your Spaceship.

This is true for the Space Exploration mod, which might be the source of confusion2B1 wrote: Tue Mar 25, 2025 9:44 pm I thought I had read somewhere that it could all be done remotely.

Enjoy the different music!
I found it helpful to bring along some big miners, since they use up the resources half as fast.

You get the big miners on Vulcanus.J-H wrote: Wed Mar 26, 2025 12:20 pm I found it helpful to bring along some big miners, since they use up the resources half as fast.
My own personal Factorio super-power - running out of power.
