Mine buildings automatically in remote view
When using remote view to deconstruct things, the first building getting marked for deconstruction has a "mining time", then everything afterwards breaks immediately until right click is released, which causes this process to start over. This feels very clunky, as I would expect either everything to be marked for deconstruction instantly, or everything to have a mining time (please don't). Currently to get around this I drag around a blank deconstruction planner instead, but it would make more sense for all things able to be marked instantly with just right click.

It's like a long keypress in most text editors : the first key press takes its time to register, but the next ones are registered quickly.
I guess the feel of clunkiness comes from the fact we're not used to that with mouse actions (I least that's the case for me).

Re: Mine buildings automatically in remote view
This only ever botheres me with ghosts, because they mine instantly in none remote view, so it surprised me.
But other stuff is also slow to mine in non-remote, so I didn't notice anything odd.

I like it this way, because it's very easy to accidentally tap the RMB. I interpret it as making sure you intend to be deleting things, then allowing you to do it very quickly after that.
Re: Mine buildings automatically in remote view
I was going to suggest this myself, but found this thread. The reason it makes sense is as follows:
Normal view: mining an entity takes time (makes sense)
Normal view: mining a ghost is instant (makes sense)
Remote view: mining an entity (to mark it for deconstruction): takes time (makes sense because this is a functioning part of your factory already)
Remote view: mining a ghost (to unmark it for construction): takes time (does not make sense because it doesn't exist)
Normal view should be consistent with remote view. No one ever complained that ghosts get mined 'too fast' in normal view, so why the change in 2.0?
Furthermore, control + z exists for those who frequently misinput and like the 'confirmation dialog', or 'long keypress' aspect. Surely you want to streamline the experience most for intended inputs than for mistaken inputs?

Re: Mine buildings automatically in remote view
This is wrong. In a text editor, pressing a single keystroke does one action. In remote view, right clicking once does nothing.Koub wrote: Wed Dec 18, 2024 12:51 pm It's like a long keypress in most text editors : the first key press takes its time to register, but the next ones are registered quickly.

I occasionally play with a couple friends that constantly misinput. Rotation, deleting ghosts, flipping inserters, you name it. If anything I'd like to see the consistency enforced by defaulting *all* ghosts to have a mining time.Zaspar wrote: Sun Mar 23, 2025 8:20 pm Normal view should be consistent with remote view. I've already got muscle memory for alt d if I want to delete more than one thing anyway and hardly ever use right click after bots.
