[2.0.42] Crash loading saves: "Corrupt map: unknown quality prototype ID 9"
[2.0.42] Crash loading saves: "Corrupt map: unknown quality prototype ID 9"
Since I like to leave my factorio on at night, I set the config file to have 10 autosaves, but when I tried to load these autosaves ( 7 -> 6 -> 3 ), my game kept crashing. At first, i thought it'd be related to the fact that these autosaves were nonstandard (6 or 7 ), but then it crashed when trying to load a standard autosave (3), so it got me even more confused
A copy of the logs ( this was autosave 6 or 7 ) More logs ( this was autosave 3 )

How are autosaves 6 and 7 non-standard? Please explain.

Usually factorio only has 3. You have to change a file, which I consider non-standard since this is not the case for most options

also, i forgot to include the link to my manual save: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_qIqYj ... sp=sharing

Ah. There are a lot of other people who also do that, which is why I was confused about them being non-standard. Thank you for the clarification. I hope the devs fix/help you with this soon.DEMEMZEA wrote: Sun Mar 23, 2025 12:43 am Usually factorio only has 3. As the error message said, the corruption is most likely caused by a hardware problem, see 114778. A reliable method to cause the corruption in the first place would be of value.

Check Windows Event Viewer for hard disk errors, and run Memtest86+ to check RAM. For CPU, I suggest Prime95.
See if you have newer BIOS available for your motherboard. Lastly, reset all BIOS settings to default, to make sure no overclock etc is causing instability.

Yep. Ran Memtest86+, 1 pass 0 errors.pioruns wrote: Sun Mar 23, 2025 1:38 am Check Windows Event Viewer for hard disk errors, and run Memtest86+ to check RAM. For CPU, I suggest Prime95.

Good. Please do other relevant tests I mentioned, or similar, to figure out what could it be.
Is your Intel CPU affected by voltage drama from last year? Make sure it is not damaged if that's the case.

Prime95? The one for helping to find mersenne primes? Or is there another software with a similar namepioruns wrote: Sun Mar 23, 2025 3:53 am Good. Please do other relevant tests I mentioned, or similar, to figure out what could it be.

about the voltage one, no. Mine's a 10th generation and iirc only affected ones were 13th and 14th, innit?

IDK, have not run modern Intel CPU for long time. If yours is older and not affected, that's good.
Yes Prime95 for prime numbers is very good to saturate CPU completely and make sure it's stable. Check temps while you run it.

Yeah, 13th/14th were the main ones with issues.
