[2.0.32] no "light" during daytime

Post by no_sunshine »

I'm trying to spin up factorio on a mac M3 running vmware fusion running windows. It seems like whenever its 'daytime' the sun isn't actually shining, if that makes sense? The screenshots help - but during the night i can see everything fine, and when it switches to day all i see are the running lights on the drills, etc. I can still walk around and interface with items, but it just seems like there is no lighting.

I have tried lowering all graphics settings as far as possible, also forcing openGL true and false, and verifying game contents via steam. no change to this issue. I also started a completely new game and have the same issue. I have no mods enabled. This happened before I acquired nightvision. This issue does not happen with the same savegame on my windows PC. The main menu background animations do not show this same issue.

Attached is one screenshot during 'dawn' where the flashlight is still on, then a screenshot once the flashlight off.

This device is provided by my employer so I'd rather keep all 'non-work' related items on the VM for compartmentalization.
